A Employer Identification Number (EIN), also known as many things the Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) or Tax Identification Number. The unique nine-digit number assigned is something that is provided to you by the IRS for newly established business entities to be identified by the government . The United States for the purposes of the employer identification number is to ensure that companies are paying taxes. When the number is used for identification rather than employment tax reporting, it is usually referred to as a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), and when used for the purposes of reporting employment taxes, it is usually referred to as an EIN.[1] These numbers are used for tax administration and must be not used for any other purpose. For example, the EIN should not be used in tax lien auctions.

You can obtain your employer identification by visiting the IRS website and completing their online EIN application form online. Another option that is available is by calling you tax id request directly into the IRS for completion. The IRS also allows you to either fax or mail them a copy of your completed ss-4 application form to them and the will process your request. The last option that can be done is by using a 3rd party vendor to complete the request on your behalf.
